Tools to process the experience after a session
“I had 2 miscarriages 12 years ago, I saw my unborn babies, stars of light, and I finally set them free.”
After participating in a Shamanic Breathwork session, it’s normal to feel a wide range of emotions—from exhaustion or overwhelm to a state of pure bliss. This is no ordinary experience; it’s a sacred ceremony that connects you to deeper parts of your inner self. With such profound experiences, it’s essential to treat yourself with extra care and love in the days following.
You may notice unexpected emotions surfacing immediately after the session or even weeks later. This is perfectly normal. By engaging in breathwork, you’ve opened a door to your subconscious mind, inviting your inner consciousness to rise and reveal itself. It’s important to remain gentle and patient with yourself as these feelings come up.
If you feel a bit altered or “in-between worlds” after your session, remember to stay present—especially while driving or handling tasks that require focus. You’re still processing the journey, and the integration is as vital as the breathwork itself.
Post breathwork integration tools:
- Draw or Color One powerful tool for integrating your experience is Mandala drawing. Simply draw a circle on a blank sheet of paper and let your hands intuitively fill it in. This drawing serves as a snapshot of your psyche, capturing the emotions and insights that surfaced during the session.
- Journal Take some time to write down any insights, feelings, or visions that came to you during breathwork. Your heart spoke to you in its own language—now is the time to reflect on the messages you received. Writing helps you process and make sense of the experience.
- Share with Loved Ones Speaking about your breathwork experience with trusted friends or family can help you process. Make sure they listen without judgment. Sometimes, just sharing your thoughts and emotions aloud can be deeply cathartic.
- Meditate Find quiet time to meditate and reflect on the experience. Use this moment to reconnect with the source inside you, the part of you that was awakened during the breathwork session.
- Hydrate You’ve just gone through intense breathing, so hydration is key. Drink plenty of water to support your body’s healing process. Avoid alcohol for the next few days to allow your body and mind to fully integrate the experience.
- Eat Grounding Food After such an expansive experience, grounding is important. Choose wholesome, nutritious meals—especially those rich in proteins and vegetables—to help anchor you back into your body.
- Bodywork Physical touch can be deeply healing after breathwork. Whether it’s a massage, reiki session, or other forms of energy work, bodywork can help release any residual tension and support the integration of your experience.
- Pause Before Major Decisions Give yourself a few days or even a week before making any significant life decisions. You are still processing the emotional and mental shifts that came up during breathwork, so allow time for clarity to settle.
- Spend Time in Nature Nature is one of the most powerful tools for grounding and healing. If possible, take a walk in the forest, sit by the water, or simply spend time outdoors to reconnect with the earth and integrate your experience.
Be grateful for whatever experience you had, knowing that you received exactly what you needed in that moment. Don’t underestimate the shifts that may continue to unfold within you. Every breathwork session offers its own unique gifts, and the integration process is just as crucial as the breathwork itself.
